Advanced techniques, tools, and principles for web-based media production. Development of animations and multimedia to build professional quality web solutions using advanced features of Dreamweaver, Flash, and Premiere.  Multimedia software; uses of multimedia products as educational resources; design and creation of advanced media products utilizing a variety of applications and peripherals; integration of digital images and video into presentations; web site evaluation, design, and publishing; troubleshooting techniques for multimedia computer systems and related peripheral devices. Prerequisite: IDE 552; experience in building Web pages and proficiency in using Photoshop for image creation and editing.

Students visit studios and offices of well-known illustrators, designers, advertisers, professional trade associations, artists’ representatives, and headhunters for six days in New York City. On the final day students reflect on the week’s experience and meet other course requirements. Students pay all expenses and are responsible for own housing. No guests. Prerequisite: sophomore, junior and senior majors in Advertising, Visual Communication, or Illustration majors OR instructor consent.

In today’s transient society many of our most valued possessions are packed and moved on a continual basis. This furniture design studio will focus on various issues associated with nomadic lifestyles.  Investigate a variety of new materials; test their limitations in furniture applications; research various nomadic cultures to better understand the significance and function of the objects they possess.  Sketching, modeling, creation of working prototypes.  One scheduled field trip to a local manufacturer of nomadic structures or to a furniture manufacturer.
