The Talent and Education Development Center is housed at University College and dedicated to improving the quality of the existing and emerging workforce in the Central New York Region by bringing regional education, economic development and workforce development sectors into closer alignment. Our goal is to ensure that the education and training delivered to students, incumbent workers and career changers provide them with the skills they need to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
What We Do
- Partner with the public and private sectors to identify, develop, test, and promote effective workforce development programs
- Partner with schools to create innovative career planning programs
- Bring academicians from different fields including business, education, public policy, human service, science and engineering to study the existing education and workforce development systems seeking practical solutions that might translate into effective government and workforce policy
- Disseminate research findings to educate business and union leaders, policymakers, community members, as well as media and the academic communities, on critical workforce and education issues that relate to the emerging global, knowledge-driven economy
